BLUE MOON RISING

Coming from one of my favorite nudibranch families, from the West Pacific, this little common beauty, Chromoris kunei, is between 30 and 40 mm in length.  It is among those referred to as the Marilyn Monroe of the species, lifting their skirts, flapping it up and down as they make their way over the bottom, blatantly advertising their flamboyant presence to predators as a warning. As luck would have it, this one had a nicely blue colored tunicate in the background, as it appeared to feast on a purple sponge giving me reason to refer to the photo as Blue Moon Rising.
