Camp Main Watchtower

The watch tower located above the main gate. The camp was designed such that every barrack (there were originally numerous structures, with the concept that all barracks, built in an orderly arc, and the spaces between them, could be seen from the watch tower. As the camp expanded, and thousands of people were being held there, more watch towers had to be built around the perimeter to surveil the prisoners.
