Camp Prison & Torture Posts

Description : The building in the background is the camp prison. The three posts were used to tie prisoners up by their hands, and then an assortment of tortures would be administered. Over 30,000 people perished while being kept as prisoners at Sachsenhausen - many of malnutrition and illness, some died during medical experimentation, and many more executed. Most of the early Jewish prisoners were exported to the concentration camps in Poland. Many of the Sachsenhausen prisoners were prisoners of war, Nazi opponents, homosexuals, and individuals with genetic disorders. The camp housed both men and women prisoners.
