Scopalamine—Pill (Scopace) vs Patch (Transderm Scop)

Scopace is faster acting, but does not last anywhere near as long as Transderm Scop (8 hours v 3 days). But, the pill will not get dislodged or fall off from behind your ear, nor will it get transferred from your fingers to your eyes and cause you to look and act like an owl.

The manufacturer's recommendation for use of Scopace indicates that "the typical dose is 1-2 tablets taken an hour before travel. For prompt absorption and action, the dose should be taken on an empty stomach. Each dose comforts for up to 8 hours." However, as with any other prescription medication, it is to be taken as directed by your doctor.

The pill is the most economical. Purchased online, four 1.5MG scopolamine patches will cost about $30; 30 0.4MG tabs of Scopace will cost about $12.
